Paxton & Vierling Steel is a division of Owen Industries, which has three other divisions: Northern Plains Steel in Fargo, N.D.; Missouri Valley Steel, Sioux City, Iowa; and Lincoln Structural Solutions in Lincoln.
1885 | Company founded as Paxton & Vierling Iron Works by William Paxton of Omaha and Chicago brothers A.J. and Robert Vierling. Paxton's other investments included the Paxton Hotel.
1922 | The Vierlings send Fred Owen, an employee, to Omaha to assist with the growing steel fabrication business.
1937 | Fred Owen becomes half owner of P&V.
1937-1938 | Owen relocates the company to its present location at Fifth Street and Avenue H in Carter Lake, Iowa.
1945 | Fred Owen's son, Edward F. Owen, joins the company.
1950 | PVS opens Missouri Valley Steel.
1950s | Company renamed Paxton & Vierling Steel Co.
1956 | Fred Owen gains control of the company.
1960 | The company adds a steel service center.
1964 | Fred Owen dies.
1969 | Edward's son, Robert E. Owen, who has a degree in engineering from Iowa State University, joins the company.
1977 | PVS opens Northern Plains Steel.
1983 | Robert Owen becomes president and general manager of Paxton & Vierling Steel.
1986 | The company's four divisions are assembled under the holding company of Owen Industries Inc.
1990 | Edward Owen dies.
1992 | Company acquires Lincoln Structural Bolt, which is rebranded as Lincoln Structural Solutions, a supplier to nuclear projects, in 2005.
2001 | Tyler Owen, Robert's son, joins the company.
