One couple in Weeping Water, Neb., was lucky to escape with their lives.
Beau Flint runs his business from his basement, so as water seeped into the basement, he and his wife, Carolyn, began moving items higher up.
Beau Flint, who can’t swim, was standing in water about 3½ feet deep late Sunday night when water from the creek nearby broke through the basement door and trapped him in neck-deep water.
Flint managed to climb out a window. By then, the water was filling the room that his wife was in, and she was shouting for help. Flint rescued her.
“When you get a flood of rushing water, yeah, it scares you,” he said Monday.
