Omaha boys' home official dies

A top official of the Omaha Home for Boys has died.

Kevin H. Orr, chief operating officer and executive vice president, was found dead Wednesday at his cottage on the campus at 52nd Street and Ames Avenue.

He suffered an apparent heart attack, officials said.

Orr, 58, had been associated with the home since 1959, when he came to live at the campus.

He began working for the home in 1973.

“Kevin has been the spirit of the Omaha Home for Boys, and although we lost Kevin today, his spirit will always be a part of our home. He has been a great mentor to youth and staff alike and those individuals will carry his legacy forward,'' said Dick Corwine, board president of the home.
