Track and Field: North’s Moen-Davis leads record setters

INDIANOLA, Iowa — Four more Nebraska Association records were set Sunday on the final day of the Region 8 USA Track and Field championships at Simpson College.

Omaha North’s LaQue Moen-Davis won the Young Women’s (ages 17-18) triple jump with a leap of 40 feet, 4-3/4 inches, topping 40-2 by Jaime Volkmer of Kearney in 1999. The win was the third of the meet for Moen-Davis.

Omaha’s Deja Johnson set records by winning the 100- and 200-meter dashes in the Midget Girls (11-12) age group. Her 13.29 in the 100 topped the 13.48 mark by Kamaria Heru of Omaha in 1995. The 27.02 she ran to win the 200 bettered Gothenburg runner Tiani Reeves’ 27.67 in 2007.

Lauren Doeschot of Omaha won the Youth Girls (13-14) javelin with a record toss of 112-2. The top-three finishers in each event except the Sub-Bantam division qualify for the July 27 through Aug. 1 USA Track and Field National Junior Olympics in Sacramento, Calif.
