More weekend offerings

• The Omaha Royals have a opportunities for fun this weekend.

Thirty years after .38 Special first hit the music charts with the song “Rockin' Into the Night,” the group will be rockin' into the night on July 23 at Rosenblatt Stadium. The concert will follow the Omaha Royals 7:05 p.m. game vs. the New Orleans Zephyrs and a fireworks show.

Then the zany ZOOperstars including Alex Frogriguez., Centipete Rose,. Clammy Sosa, Cow Ripken Jr. and lots of others take to the field July 24.
The wacky, inflatable celebrity characters will be on hand for the 5:35 p.m. Omaha Royals-New Orleans Zephyrs game.
They've been featured on “America's Got Talent,” as well as ESPN and the NBC “Today Show.” Fans love watching the characters bounce around the field performing skits, such as one in which Clammy Sosa “devours” coaches, batboys or whoever happens to be around, while Weird Al Yankovic's “Eat It” plays in the background.

Family FUNday is July 25. Bring the whole family for clowns, face-painting and, weather permitting, kids can run the bases after the 12:05 p.m. Omaha Royals-New Orleans Zephyrs game


• Head on out for the final weekend of the Street of Dreams. This is the 26th year MOBA has hosted a Street of Dreams. This year's event is at Elk Ridge on the Lake on 192nd Street just North of Dodge Street.
Hours for the house tours are: Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Tickets are $12 at the gate. $11 discount tickets available at all Omaha and Council Bluffs Hy-Vee locations.
Children 6-12 are $6 and children 5 and under are free.
The Metro Omaha Builders Association will donate $1 to Habitat for Humanity for every ticket sold.

• An evening of fun is in store for those who attend a fundraiser featuring Mr Bill's Comedy Stage Hypnosis Show on July 24 at 8 p.m. Volunteers from the audience become the stars of the show.
The Council Bluffs Eagles Club is sponsoring the event at the Eagles Hall, 1530 Avenue F in Council Bluffs.
Tickets are available in advance for $6 and at the door for $8 with the proceeds benefiting the Council Bluffs Eagle Club's programs in the Council Bluffs area.

• Four-month-old Brody Rowe, who was born prematurely, already is a veteran of medical procedures. He's had four heart surgeries, a collapsed lung and intestine problems — with more ailments still to be addressed.
The all-you-can-eat dinner, music and raffles on July 23 will help his parents, Doug and Kendel Rowe of Omaha, pay increasing medical bills. The event will begin at 6 p.m. at Florence City Hall, 29th and State Streets. Dinner tickets, available at the door, are $10 for adults and $5 for children up to 12 years old.


• If you are in the market for a new dog, there is a dog auction with over 361 dogs up for sale just 40 minutes from Omaha. It will take place July 24 in Ashland at the Karwish Kennel.

• “Ridin' 4 Justice,” the second annual Poker Run for the Nebraska Innocence Project, will be July 24 beginning at Dillon Brothers Harley-Davidson, 17402 West Maple Road. Registration will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon with the last card draw at 5 p.m. at Anchor Inn, 2499 Freedom Park Road. Cost: $20 per hand, $15 per passenger.
Proceeds will go to exonerating wrongly convicted individuals through DNA evidence, educating the public on the problem of wrongful convictions, and supporting legislative change in the criminal justice system.


• It's a Summer Band Party — an afternoon of live music and dancing — to help the Ollie Webb Center with adult services. The event will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. July 24 at the Millard Veterans of Foreign Wars, 5083 S. 136th St. Cost is $5. Reservations are suggested but not required. • A benefit Poker Run and Street Dance will be part of the Last Hot Weekend in July in Louisville, Neb.
Registration for the poker run will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 24 at Nebraska Brewing Co. in Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion. The run will end at Good Time Bar in Louisville.
A 6 p.m. to midnight street dance will be at Third and Main Streets in Louisville. The dance will be family friendly. Event sponsor Louisville 6/20 is a nonprofit group dedicated to helping six victims (and their families) of a June 20, 2009, traffic accident in South Bend, Neb.


• The Blackwood Brothers gospel quartet will be touring in the region. Their schedule includes free performances, with free-will offerings collected, at two area churches: 7 p.m. July 25 at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneers Blvd. in Lincoln; and 7 p.m. July 26 at the First Christian Church in Weeping Water, Neb.
