ROGER STERLING JR. (John Slattery)
Fashion statement: Three-piece suits and pocket squares
One of the two senior partners of Sterling Cooper, a firm founded by his father. In the third season, Sterling teamed up with colleagues to create a new firm. He loves women, booze and cigars.
BETTY DRAPER (January Jones)
Fashion statement: Elegant gowns
She's the estranged wife of Don Draper who's eternally beautiful but deeply troubled by his infidelities. Betty dresses to the nines even while vacuuming the living room.
DON DRAPER (Jon Hamm)
Fashion statement: Sophisticated dark suits and cardigan sweaters
Former creative director and junior partner of Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency and now partner of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. He's the series' main character and not always the most likable guy. He's a fraud who repeatedly cheats on his wife.
PETE CAMPBELL (Vincent Kartheiser)
Fashion statement: Striped, skinny ties
A young, ambitious account executive who came from a privileged background. He tried to blackmail Draper regarding his shadowy past.
PEGGY OLSON (Elisabeth Moss)
Fashion statement: Tea-length dresses
Draper's secretary who rises in the firm to become a copywriter. She unknowingly becomes pregnant with Campbell's child, suffers a mental breakdown after giving birth and gives up the baby for adoption.
JOAN HARRIS (Christina Hendricks)
Fashion statement: Pencil skirts and sheath dresses
She's the office manager and head of the secretarial pool at Sterling Cooper. She had a long-term affair with Sterling until he suffered two heart attacks. She later married, quit her job and was ultimately hired back by the new agency.
