About 2,800 Iowa National Guard members from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team will soon depart for deployment in Afghanistan. They will probably reach Afghanistan by mid-November, Iowa Guard officials said.
About 350 Nebraska Guard members are being deployed with the Iowa team. Nebraska Guard leaders said they will soon announce other deployments that will send Nebraska Guard members to Afghanistan.
