KEARNEY, Neb. -- A carnival employee received stitches in his forearm after being stabbed at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds.
Jesus Cavazos, 35, of Texas is charged in Buffalo County Court with using a deadly weapon, a knife, to commit a felony, and felony second-degree assault in the early Tuesday incident.
Court records outline the case against Cavazos:
Around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday several male Heart of America Shows carnival workers carrying weapons argued at the fairgrounds. A 36-year-old Beatrice man tried to stop the men and was struck several times. Cavazos allegedly stabbed the man in the left forearm.
The fight broke up for a short time, then Cavazos assaulted the man again. While the man was on the ground, Cavazos also kicked him several times in the torso.
The man's girlfriend tried to intervene and was allegedly assaulted by Deanette Anchondo, 29, of Denver.
Anchondo is charged with misdemeanor third-degree assault. She was arrested and jailed at the Buffalo County Jail, but posted a $500 bond. Cavazos is being held on 10 percent of a $350,000 bond, or $35,000.
They are both scheduled to appear in court in August.
