If you have 15 minutes: Meet musician Fox Elipsus 7 p.m. Saturday at Borders Bookstore, 7775 Olson Drive, in Papillion. Elipus, originally from Oxford, England, moved to the United States as a teenager to pursue music. He lives in his car, and travels using money solely from his CD sales, to promote peace and love through his music. View a few of his music videos here and decide if you want to see him live.
If you have half an hour: Take the kids to Pipal Park, between West Center Road and Hascall Street at 78th Street. Pipal Park is a barrier-free playground that has a bridge, slides, swings and picnic areas. A water feature will keep them busy, as will the many art sculptures.
If you have an hour: Check out Tom Snyders (aka The Bicycling Comedian) 7:30 p.m. Monday at Barley’s Bar & Grill, 1510 Cuming Street. Snyders, who is in the area to ride the first three days of RAGBRAI, will host a benefit comedy show for nonprofit Omaha Bikes. He’s been riding a bicycle to all his performances for the past years. Hence the nickname. He has ridden rode more than 150,000 miles to all 50 states and 33 countries. Admission is $8. Information: 916-4724.
If you have two hours: See “Star Trek” for free Friday night as part of La Vista’s Outdoor Movie Series in honor of the town’s 50th anniversary. The movie will be shown outside at the La Vista Public Library, 9110 Giles Road. Seating starts at 8 p.m., and the film begins at 9:50 p.m. Ooh, and you get free popcorn if you go.
If you have a few hours: Watch a few golfers tee-off. The Cox Classic golf tournament will feature a wine-tasting area and dance parties at Champions Run, 13800 Eagle Run Drive. The Michelob Ultra 19th party tent is in full swing, fueled by golf, beer and local bands — Lemon Fresh Day, Thursday; Quartus, Friday; Velvet Crush and Grand Theft Girlfriend, Saturday. Cover is $5. If you have a few hours: Head to Jazz on the Green to hear the Prairie Cats with Grand Marquis 7 p.m. Thursday in Turner Park at Midtown Crossing, 31st and Dodge Streets. Admission is free.
If you have a night off: Take a journey down memory lane with the Rev. Al Green and the Mynabirds at 8 p.m. Sunday inthe Stir Convert Cove at Harrah’s Casino in Council Bluffs. The 64-year-old soulman has released 29 albums since 1967. And, man, can he croon. Tickets are $35 at www.stircove.com Information: 712-329-6000.
If you have a night off: Listen to Las Vegas DJ Dig Dug drop a beat at 10 p.m. Saturday at Elite Lounge, 11009 Elm St, in Rockbrook Village. Dig Dug spent 10 years as resident DJ of Hard Rock Casino and was the original resident DJ for Rehab, a popular daytime party in Vegas. Information: 399-8585.
