• The Nationwide Tour is in town, and that means professional golf at Champions Run. Golfers will tee-off at 7:30 a.m.
The Cox Classic also will feature entertainment Saturday night at the 19th Hole, the party tent near the clubhouse, 13800 Eagle Run Drive, from 4:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. A $5 cover charge starts after 6:30 p.m. A fireworks show is set for 10 p.m.

• The Nebraska Barons, five-time National Softball Wheelchair Champions, will host a tournament at ALLPLAY Complex located in Seymour Smith Park. Teams from Minneapolis and Chicago will take part in the tournament. Games will run all day.
Also, the fall season for the ALLPLAY Children's Miracle Baseball League will start Saturday. Ninety-five children with disabilities will play games from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Admission to both events is free to the public.

• Re-enactors will portray life in an 1820s military post during the living history weekend at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park. Interpretive activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The park is seven blocks east of U.S. 75 near Fort Calhoun, Neb. A park entry permit is required and may be purchased at the park.

• Enjoy a full-blown county fair experience at Westfair this weekend. Cattle shows, baking contests, motorcycle races and a demolition derby will be featured, along with carnival games, rides and a country music concert.
Highlights for Saturday include a skidloader rodeo at 2 p.m. as well as the concert with Gloriana at 6 p.m. The concert is free with gate admission.
Westfair is two miles east of Interstate 80 on U.S. Highway 6 (exit 8). Gates will be open from 8 a.m. to midnight. Admission is $5 for adults; $2 for children ages 6 to 12; free for those 5 and younger.

• Bedouin Star Studio, 800A Fort Crook Road South in Bellevue, will have an open house at 10 a.m. Free trial dance lessons — including country line, African and belly — will be offered.

• The International Quilt Study Center and Museum at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will host an artisans' demonstration, talk and trunk show by members of the Kala Raksha Trust.
The trust nurtures the traditional artisans of the Kutch desert of northwestern India. This event is in conjunction with the exhibition “South Asian Seams: Quilts from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.” Trust founder Judy Frater will talk at 2 p.m. Demonstrations and trunk show go from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission to the museum, 1523 N. 33rd St. in Lincoln, is $5 for those older than 18, $3 for non-UNL students with ID and children, $10 for families, and free for UNL students and children under 5.

• The Homestead National Monument of America near Beatrice has two activities on July 31.
Kids can become an underwater nature detective. Join the Rangers at the monument's Education Center Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to sleuth clues from Cub Creek. Learn about the amazing world of insects that live beneath the water's surface and what their clues tell us about the environment.
Also, Rick Ball of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and certified fishing instructor Jason Daniels will present a fishing program in the Education Center. The program, which starts at 7 p.m., will include basic skills, how to handle fish, identification, safety and where to go to find good fishing. Admission is free.

• El Museo Latino, 4701 S. 25 St., and the Mexican Consulate in Omaha will present a film in commemoration of Mexico's Bi-Centenial Independence from Spain and the centennial of the beginning of the Mexican Revolution.
“El Gran Calavera” (“The Great Madcap”) will be aired at noon at the museum. There is no charge to view the Spanish-language film with English sub-titles. Dr. Maria Arbelaez of the University of Nebraska at Omaha will discuss “Bi-Centennial Independence and Centennial of the Revolution” at a 1 p.m. lecture at the museum.
Lecture attendance requires paid museum admission or membership.

• The North American Highlander Nationals will be held at American Legion Post 32 in Papillion. The free event, scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., is a combination of strongman competitions such as tire flipping and stone lifting, and the Scottish Highland Games. The post is at 230 W. Lincoln Road.

• Music, food, games and activities for all ages will highlight the second annual block party at the Eastern Nebraska Community Action Partnership.
Activities will include a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, face painting, watermelon-eating contest, tug of war, a downpour derby, inflatable bouncers and more. The party, which is free, will be from noon to 5 p.m. at 2406 Fowler Ave.

• A benefit to help Stephanie Greco and her family pay for a trip to UCLA to see medical specialists will be held from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. The 20-year-old Omahan has an auto-immune disease that doctors have yet to name, but she has permanent eye damage from two years with the illness. The benefit, “Help Me Off This Ride,” will include a spaghetti dinner, dance music and bake sale.
The benefit will be at Firefighters Union Hall, 60th and Grover. Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for kids. A fund also has been set up at Metro Health Services Federal Credit Union, 14509 F St., Omaha, NE 68137. Checks can be made out to Benefit Fund for Stephanie Greco.

• Summer Wine Festival — Banding Together for a Cause will be at Slattery Vintage Estates Vineyard and Tasting Room in Nehawka, Neb. The 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. festival will raise funds and awareness for ALS in the Heartland. It provides free, individualized services and support to patients and families who suffer from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
Tickets — $15 in advance or $20 at the door — include admission, six wine tastings and live bands all day. Learn more at www.alsintheheartland.org. The vineyard and tasting room are at 8925 Adams St. in Nehawka.

• The third annual Project Harmony Pre-Sturgis Poker Run will be at Dillon Brothers Harley-Davidson, 174th Street and West Maple Road. The ride will end at the Anchor Inn.
Registration, $20 per person including dinner, will be from 10 a.m. to noon at Dillon. Pre-registration is available at www.projectharmony.com. Motorcycles, cars and caravans are all welcome. Proceeds will benefit the children served by Project Harmony Child Protection Center.

• A spaghetti feed, auction and dance will benefit Cole Hodson, who suffered a spinal cord injury during a June 26 diving accident. The meal will be served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by the auction at 7 p.m. and dance at 8 p.m.
All events will be at the Herman (Neb.) Legion Hall. Donations also can be made to the Cole Hodson Fund at Washington County Bank. Proceeds will be used to support Cole and his parents, Mike and Teri Hodson, with ongoing medical expenses.
