Texas trying to play Big 12 hero?

5 p.m.: Very interesting read from my friend Dennis Dodd of cbssports.com on Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott detailing the drama of the Pac-10 and Big 12 last June here.

After reading this, two points come to mind:

    1. This backs the conspiracy theory that Texas never intended to leave the Big 12, but wanted to look like the hero that kept it together in order to maintain a tighter grip on the league, all the while forcing Nebraska, the anti-Texas, out of the league. I totally buy that.

    2. Harvey Perlman should subpoena Scott for his testimony. Scott said that Texas leaked a plan that the Pac-10 and Texas had been talking about for months, thus confirming what Perlman told the regents: Texas had been talking about leaving the Big 12 before Nebraska. It will be hard to see NU paying back a lot of money to the Big 12, given this scenario.
