A man accused of stabbing a woman inside a north Omaha apartment early Friday has been booked into jail on suspicion of felony assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
An ambulance rushed the woman to the Creighton University Medical Center in critical condition. Police later said her injuries were not life-threatening.
The incident, which was reported about 12:35 a.m., took place at 2216 Florence Blvd.
Police said the man, Dennis McKnight, 57, who lives at that address, and woman, Melody Clayton, 38, of Omaha, had had a relationship in the past. The stabbing apparently occurred during an argument, police said.
McKnight told police that Clayton had attacked him. He sustained a nick on his arm, police said.
Clayton reportedly was stabbed three times in the back.
