Baseball: Omaha's Humber shuts down Sounds, 3-0

Box Score: Omaha 3, Nashville 0

* * *

Story line: Royals pitcher Phil Humber tossed a four-hitter and struck out seven to help Omaha win 3-0 Friday to take three of four games against the Sounds. Only two Nashville batters got hits off Humber, who improved to 5-6 on the year. Kila Ka’aihue hit his 24th home run of the year, a solo shot in the fourth, and Ed Lucas added a solo homer in the ninth to cushion Omaha’s lead.

Moose tracks: Mike Moustakas went hitless in four at-bats, dropping his batting average with Omaha 13 points to .233.

Up next: Omaha opens a four-game home series at Memphis at 6:05 p.m. The Royals haven’t announced their starting pitcher for the game, but he’ll face righty Kyle Lohse (0-0, 3.00 ERA). Lohse, a 15-game winner for the Cardinals in 2008, is making his second rehab start since having forearm surgery in late May.
