LINCOLN — Nebraska linebacker Sean Fisher suffered a leg injury Tuesday at football practice, though its severity has not been confirmed by coach Bo Pelini.
Fisher, a 6-foot-6, 235-pound sophomore from Millard North, started six games last year and entered preseason practice this month as an expected leader at his position group.
Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne, who attended practice, said Tuesday night on the Husker Sports Network that two NU players suffered “bad injuries” during the two-hour session. Osborne did not elaborate.
Millard North coach Fred Petito said he had heard of Fisher's injury but did not know details. Pelini did not address the media Tuesday. He is scheduled to speak Wednesday morning after the Huskers' first of two practices.
The loss of Fisher would rank as the second blow of preseason camp. Senior Mike Smith, a 26-game starter at left tackle, suffered a season-ending knee injury last week.
Fisher recorded 35 tackles and one sack last year as a redshirt freshman.
