The original launched in Lawrence, Kan. Four others are located in Leawood, Kan., and Columbia and Kansas City, Mo.
Kansas City-based Leap Hospitality opened the Omaha location June 28 and owns the rights to develop Ingredient locations in Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska.
Pat Phelan, Michael Werner and corporate chef and “chief tasting officer” Steve Kerner are owners of Leap. They plan a second location in the Omaha area later this year. Though the former California Pizza Kitchen space in One Pacific Place has been discussed as a possible site, Phelan and Werner declined to say where or when a new Ingredient might open.
A just-approved liquor license means Ingredient should be serving regional wines by the glass and bottle and domestic and imported beers sometime in the next two weeks.
Patio? Check. Kids menu? Yup. Gluten-free menu? Nope, but some versions of the printed menu identify all the gluten-free salad ingredients and pizza toppings, and the restaurant does offer gluten-free pizza crusts.
Brian Warneking is the chef at the Omaha location. Look for his takes and local flair on the specials board and on the restaurant’s Pick 5 board: a list of favorite five-item combos chosen by local celebrities, VIPs and average Joes.
Nightly promotions starting next week include: buy-one-get-one-free pizzas on Mondays, free meals for kids 10 and under who eat with their parents on “family night” Tuesdays, prix-fixe options for “girls’ night out” Wednesdays and “date night” Saturdays.
