8:40 p.m.: Still no news from Bo Pelini Monday on the quarterback position, other than this nugget: Pelini said the coaching staff has not informed the starter for Saturday's opener of his assignment.
. . . Or has he?
“I wouldn't tell you if I did,” Pelini said.
The coach said Nebraska introduced more of Western Kentucky and the gameplan into its two-hour practice on
the FieldTurf outside the Hawks Center.
“We need better attention to detail,” Pelini said. “There were some good things out there, but there were some mental errors. We need a whole week's practice to get ready for this football game.”
Junior safety Austin Cassidy has been awarded a scholarship. Cassidy learned with the rest of the Huskers Friday during a team meeting.
Additionally, Pelini said, senior quarterback Latravis Washington will play special teams this fall. He requested the move.
“Latravis is as good a guy in the locker room as you're ever going to have,” the coach said. “We love having him around. He has a great attitude. He's a winner. I can't say enough good things about LT.”
