Lincoln game-day hot spots

Have a cookie. Several Husker fans stop by The Cookie Co., 138 N. 12th St., to grab a snack before heading to Memorial Stadium. 402-475-0625.

Get a scoop of ice cream at Ivanna Cone, 701 P St. It's one of Lincoln's oldest ice cream parlors and still makes ice cream the old-fashioned way. 402-477-7473.

Take the kids to the Lincoln Children's Museum, 1420 P St., to visit Dr. Frequency's Astounding Sounds laboratory exhibit. 402-477-4000.

Play in Antelope Park, which runs from 27th Street and Capitol Parkway to 33rd Street and Sheridan Boulevard. A beautiful park offering gardens, a golf course, swimming pool and playground areas.

Mingle with a few people at tailgate parties. The west side of the stadium is unofficially designated the “family-friendly” tailgating spot.

Go to Sandy's, 1401 O St., for its signature drink, Elk Creek Water, an Everclear-vodka-orange juice cocktail. 402-475-2418.

Stop at James Arthur Vineyards in Raymond, Neb., just 10 miles from downtown Lincoln, for a tasting or two. 402-783-5255.

Grab a drink at Duffy's Tavern, 1412 O St. Duffy's was named the “Best College Bar” in the country by Complex.com,a site dedicated to 20-something culture. Duffy's has a fire pit, live music (Nirvana played there once), and fishbowl-sized cocktails. 402-474-3543.

The Watering Hole, 1321 O St., has delicious wings. Never mind its dive bar-esque features. 402-438-3054.

Sidetrack Bar, 935 O St., features the Sidetrack band, cheap drinks and a good time. 402-438-7776.

Grab a burger or a cup of coffee from one of the food vendors outside the stadium.

Watch the game at Embassy Suites Hotel, 1040 P St. There are lots of big-screen TVs, and you can see the Husker pep band and cheerleaders rally there.

Check out the Cornhusker Marching Band's pregame warmup near Kimball Recital Hall on the college campus.

Head to the Husker Nation Pavilion along Ed Weir Track, near Memorial Stadium, for live music, inflatables, kids activities and food vendors.

Browse the Nebraska Bookstore, 1300 Q St., for Husker gear. 402-476-0111.

Get your fill of burgers, beer and football at Barry's Bar & Grill, 235 N. Ninth St. 402-476-6511.

Swing on the porch swings at The Alley, 1031 M St. It's also a great spot for live music. 402-477-2820.
