Good morning. Today is Thursday, Sept. 2.
Grab an umbrella again today. A band of rain is falling between Fremont, Neb., and Logan, Iowa, early this morning and could move south into parts of the metro just before 7 a.m. Northern Douglas County is most likely to see showers.
A cold front will move into the area late this morning, pushing out the rain and ushering in daytime highs in the mid 70s. The overnight low will be about 55 degrees.
Overnight
• An armed robbery at an Omaha QuikTrip involved gunfire but no injuries. Police were called to 1704 S. 72nd St. near Hickory Street at 2:48 a.m. The store clerk told officers that the suspect demanded money, fired his gun toward the ceiling, then fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash. Police did not locate the suspect during their search of the area.
News of note:
• Worried that its plans for a “clean zone” might get tainted, College World Series Inc. has won a delay in a private developer's plans for an event space one block from the new north downtown home of the series. What constitutes a "clean zone" is under discussion. ‘Clean zone' puts project on hold
• Meanwhile, decades of Triple-A tradition end tonight at Rosenblatt Stadium, also the longtime home to the College World Series.

• United Way's campaign kickoff and volunteer fair will pack the "front lawn" of ConAgra Foods in downtown Omaha with a thousand people, beginning at 11 a.m. Attendees can sign up for volunteer opportunities, listen to live music, play games.
• "An Enemy of the People" opens at 7:30 p.m., showing each Thursday through Saturday until Sept. 18 at Brigit St. Brigit Theatre, Downtown Space, 614 S. 11th St., $22 adults, $18 students and seniors.
• Music: Jazz saxaophonist Ed Archibald, Smooth Jazz Series, 6:30 p.m., Ozone Lounge, 7220 F. St. Bad Speler with Baby opens for Lonely Estates, 8 p.m., Slowdown, free. Train with NeedToBreathe, 8 p.m., Stir Concert Cove at Harraha's Casino in the Bluffs, $38.
