Two men arrested at Bryan High

Two Omaha men were arrested Friday afternoon after a scuffle with police officers at Bryan High School.

A cruiser officer and the school resource officer were alerted to two men trespassing in the school lot.

A fight ensued after officers tried to detain the men, who are 18 and 20 years old, said Belle-vue Police Chief John Stacey. One of the men jumped on an officer’s back and tried to take his nightstick, Stacey said.

Other officers responded to the school at 4700 Giles Road in Bellevue to a “help an officer” call, put out about 3:30 p.m. The two men were arrested. Neither the officers nor the two young men required medical attention, Stacey said.

The men were arrested on suspicion of a variety of charges, including criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct. The 20-year-old also was arrested on suspicion of attempted second-degree assault on an officer.

It was the third incident this week in which assaults occurred or were attempted at a school in the Omaha Public Schools.

The other incidents were Monday, when a teacher was struck by a piece of asphalt outside Gilder Elementary School in Bellevue, and on Wednesday, when a pair of siblings assaulted an officer at Central High School in Omaha. Jason Kuiper
