Major projects proposed

Some of the major street and highway projects proposed in MAPA’s 2011-2015 transportation improvement plan:

>> Bellevue and Mills County: New Missouri River bridge and approach roadways south of Bellevue, $87 million, construction in 2011 and 2012.

>> Council Bluffs: Rebuild Interstate 80 and I-29 in Council Bluffs, $231 million, construction 2011 through 2014.

>> Council Bluffs:,/b> Widen 24th Street from 25th to 27th Avenues to five lanes, $4.2 million, construction in 2011.

>> Council Bluffs and Mills County: Repave 4.4 miles of I-29, $79.3 million, construction in 2014.

>> Omaha: Add one lane each way on Interstate 80 from 10th to 24th Streets, $11.7 million, construction in 2013. Add one lane on I-80 westbound from I-480 to 60th Street, $6.8 million, construction in 2013.

>> Midtown Omaha: Realign Saddle Creek Road from Leavenworth to Dodge Streets, $43 million, construction in 2013-2014.

>> West Omaha: Widen 144th Street to four lanes from West Dodge Road to Eagle Run Drive, $16.3 million, construction 2011-2013.

>> West Omaha: Build four-lane bridge on 180th Street over Old Lincoln Highway, railroad tracks and the Papio Creek from HWS Cleveland Boulevard to Blondo Street, $24.6 million, construction 2014-2015. Widen 180th Street from Blondo to Maple, $7.5 million, construction 2015.

>> Papillion: Widen 84th Street from Highway 370 south to Capehart Road, $9.9 million, construction 2012-2013.

>> Bennington:

>> La Vista: Pavement work on 96th Street from Harrison Street to Portal Road, $347,000, construction in 2011.
