BROWNVILLE, Neb. (AP) — The Missouri Transportation Department says it is planning to close the U.S. Highway 136 bridge into southeast Nebraska for construction work the weekend of Sept. 17 to 19.
The closure will block traffic on U.S. Highway 136 between the Nebraska town of Brownville and the Missouri towns of Phelps City and Rock Port.
According to KLZA-FM, the department says the bridge will close at 6 p.m. Sept. 17 and reopen on Sept. 19 — sooner, if the work is completed.
The contractor will be adding steel plates to the bottom of the existing beams.
