Eagle Raceway is ready for a big finish to its racing season. The track will host the Nebraska Cup on Sunday, the third race in three nights for the ASCS Midwest Sprint Cars.
The drivers start Friday night at the Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg, Mo., then compete Saturday night in a $3,000-to-win race at the Junction Motor Speedway outside McCool Junction, Neb. Sunday night’s Nebraska Cup will pay $5,000 to win plus $1,000 in lap money, capping a weekend in which one driver could earn more than $10,000.
Tony Bruce Jr. of Liberal, Kan., won last year’s cup, holding off the late Jesse Hockett. Eric Lutz of Sioux Falls, S.D., is the ASCS Midwest points leader. Ita Memorial at Wavelink
Friday and Saturday night are the Jake Ita Memorial Races at Wavelink Raceway Park near Waverly, Neb. Friday night’s monwing micro sprint special will pay $750 to win. Saturday night, the multiwinged micro sprint special pays $1,000 to win.
The race is named after a micro sprint driver who was killed along with his father and stepmother in a Custer County traffic accident in May 2009. For more information, go to www.wavelinkracewaypark.com.
King of the Hill at Joe’s Karting
On Monday at 7 p.m., Joe’s Karting in Council Bluffs will be the start of the “King of the Hill” karting challenge made popular at the Velocity Karting Center in Omaha. The 11th annual Loess Hills Motorcycle Rally is Friday through Sunday at the Mid-America Motorplex south of Council Bluffs.
