Patchy fog has reduced visibility to less than a quarter mile in areas of southwest Iowa, mostly near Red Oak, Clarinda and Shenandoah. It is expected to creep north, affecting commuters traveling in valley areas along the Missouri.
Trace amounts of rain also could fall in in parts of the metro today.
The high will in the upper 70s, well above normal for this time of year. Enjoy. Cooler weather is on the way.

• The rescue of 33 Chilean miners who have braved two months underground could begin Wednesday, if today's final preparations go as planned. Dramatic endgame nears for trapped Chile miners
• Partway through pom squad practice at Omaha Central, Nick Cannon, rapper, actor and host of the reality TV show "America's Got Talent," strolled into school calling out the name of Jordan Somer. The Central senior is one of four teens nationwide to be honored by Nickelodeon's Teen-Nick HALO Awards. A one-hour special featuring the teens will air in December. Amazing young woman honored
• Eric Crouch, the 2001 Heisman Trophy winner, estimates that he gets about 25 questions a day regarding NU's latest quarterback sensation.
