JoAnn Ostransky of Springfield, Neb., shares this recipe for a buttery icebox cookie that's been part of her family's holiday traditions for about 60 years.
“We are Czech, and all Czech people like the poppy seeds that are put into one layer,” she writes.
Their striking layers — created by adding candied cherries, poppy seeds, and chocolate and nuts to distinct portions of a basic dough — make them a unique addition to a holiday cookie platter.
