A 53-year-old Omaha child care provider was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony child abuse involving an 11-month-old boy.
Sandra Johnson, of 3930 N. 19th St., allegedly broke the boy’s left arm Sunday while he was at her home child-care business, police said.
Police went to Creighton University Medical Center to investigate the injury.
Johnson, also known as Sandra L. Minor, grew frustrated and allegedly grabbed the boy by the arm, said Officer Michael Pecha, a police spokesman.
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services issued an emergency order suspending Johnson’s license to provide child care services. The order was effective Tuesday.
The allegation against Johnson is a Class 2 felony, which means the alleged abuse was “committed knowingly and intentionally and results in serious bodily injury,” according to state law.
Johnson’s bail was set at $50,000. She must pay 10 percent of that amount to be released from jail.
She is due in Douglas County Court next month.
