LINCOLN — Christian Standhardinger, who left the Nebraska men’s basketball team in December, won’t be going to La Salle after all.
Standhardinger was cited Sunday on suspicion of public indecency in a Lincoln park.
Standhardinger had been officially announced Tuesday afternoon as a new member of the basketball team at La Salle, an Atlantic 10 Conference school in Philadelphia.
La Salle coach John Giannini then released a statement Tuesday night stating that the school and Standhardinger were parting ways.
“Christian has recently been made aware of a personal situation that demands his full attention,” Giannini said. “We believe it is in the best interest of all parties that Christian Standhardinger does not attend La Salle University.”
Lincoln police reportedly found Standhardinger shirtless and with his pants down while seated in the passenger seat of a parked car at 3:40 a.m. Sunday inside Tierra Park. He was accompanied by a 19-year-old female, also reportedly shirtless.
Both Standhardinger, 21, and his companion were ticketed on suspicion of public indecency and entering a park after hours. Lincoln city parks are closed between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Standhardinger could not immediately be reached for comment.
The 6-foot-8, 210-pound sophomore, from Munich, Germany, averaged 9.5 points during six games with the Huskers before he left the team last month.
