• Player Card: Nebraska recruit Ryne Reeves

After nearly 20 months as a Nebraska “commit,” Ryne Reeves wasn't going to let a little snow get in the way of changing his label to Nebraska “signee.”
The Crete, Neb., senior and a pair of teammates held a signing day ceremony Wednesday at their school despite weather canceling classes.
“I'm just really excited,” Reeves said afterward. “It's been a long time since I committed. For a while there I didn't think I'd ever get to sign.”
Reeves, a four-star offensive lineman, said he grew up dreaming of playing in Memorial Stadium. During the summer between his sophomore and junior seasons, NU came with an offer.
“Growing up, ever since I went to my first Husker game, I always wanted to play there,” Reeves said. “Today, all my dreams came true.”
Crete coach Chuck McGinnis said that Reeves is more than just a 6-foot, 300-pound frame with a road-plow game.
“He's a very talented young man, not just physically,” McGinnis said. “He has a lot of intangibles. I think they're getting an outstanding athlete and an outstanding young man.”
Reeves was picked as one of the country's top linemen prospects by almost all major recruiting services. Scout and Rivals rank him as the No. 4 center in the nation.
Reeves said he will study economics at Nebraska. He and his fellow freshmen will report in early June and can begin taking classes over the summer.
While the prospect of playing for his favorite team still seems like a dream, Reeves said it's now becoming reality.
“I think it's actually slowly setting in,” he said.
Crete won the Class B state title in November. The Cardinals also had running back Brock Sherman sign with Northwest Missouri State and linebacker Ben Muff sign with South Dakota State on Wednesday.
“Obviously, those three had a lot to do with our success,” McGinnis said. “It was really a privilege to coach these guys.”
