ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Creighton, down six runs after two innings, scored the deciding run in the 11th on an error in an 8-7 win Sunday over New Mexico, completing a four-game sweep.
Nick Judkins led off the 11th for the Bluejays (7-1) with a single through the right side before being advanced by Jimmy Swift with a sacrifice bunt. Judkins showed heads-up baserunning, advancing to an empty third base on the play. Alex Staehely’s grounder then was bobbled by the shortstop, scoring Judkins.
The Bluejays got out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the 11th against the Lobos (0-8).
Creighton starter Erik Mattingly was roughed up in his first outing as a Bluejay, giving up six earned runs on seven hits in 1.1 innings of work.
Seven Jays scored on the day, with Staehely scoring twice.
