Years of war, drug problems and poverty have taken their toll on the people of Afghanistan, and the results are evident in the many orphanages across the country's capital city of Kabul.
Like many of the facilities, Tomorrow's Hope orphanage is short on space, supplies and funding.
The orphanage is home to 27 Afghan children and has become a project for Col. Tom Brewer, who has retired from the Nebraska National Guard and now serves in the Army Reserve. He works in Kabul as project manager for the U.S. Embassy's Border Management Task Force.
