More lemonade stands shuttered

CORALVILLE, Iowa (AP) — Four-year-old Abigail Krutsinger wasn't the only lemonade stand operator who was closed down when RAGBRAI bicyclers poured into Coralville last week.

At least three stands run by children were closed because they hadn't obtained permits and health inspections.

Josh Schamberger, president of the Iowa City/Coralville Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the two-day ordinance was passed to protect riders from health risks. He said other Iowa towns have adopted similar ordinances for years.

Coralville City Administrator Kelly Hayworth said the city was trying to regulate hundreds of vendors in order to stay in step with the county health department.
