The public now has a chance to purchase four-day ticket packages for the 2012 Olympic Swim Trials, which will be held at the CenturyLink Center, June 25 to July 2.
Four-day ticket packages, which start as low as $180, are available at ticketmaster.com; by calling 800-745-3000 or at the CenturyLink Center Omaha box office.
Harold Cliff, president of the Omaha Sports Commission and chief operating officer of the 2012 Swim Trials, said the new four-day ticket packages allow families to enjoy several days and nights of exciting swim action at an affordable price.
“Up until now people could only purchase the full eight-day packages and the response has been outstanding with much of the lower bowl sold out,” Cliff said. “However, we know many families cannot commit to attend all eight days of the Trials, so the four-day packages offer a more affordable option while still giving people great seats to see America's greatest swimmers compete for a spot on the 2012 U.S. team heading to the London Olympics.”
Four-day ticket packages are available for the first four days/nights of the Trials – June 25 through June 28, or the final four days/nights of the Trials – June 29 through July 2. The packages include the morning preliminary swimming competition and evening semi-finals and finals.
Mike Unger, assistant executive director for USA Swimming, said several American favorites expected to win gold medals in London will attempt to qualify in multiple events, and the four-day ticket packages ensure people can see them in action.
“Every morning swimmers must qualify in events and every evening finals are held to qualify swimmers for the U.S. Olympic Team,” Unger said. “Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Missy Franklin and several other American favorites will compete for multiple-gold medals, and each four-day ticket package has been designed to allow the public to see these swimming superstars compete to make the team and establish new world records.”
Unger added that nearly 1,500 swimmers have now qualified to compete in the 2012 Swim Trials in Omaha, and that almost every downtown hotel is sold out for the entire event. He predicted the economic impact of the Trials for the Omaha area will be in excess of $30 million.
