Paw art to raise funds for center

A local business owner is raising money for the Hope Center for Kids and its Hope Employment Academy with a holiday art project.

Nicholle Reisdorff, owner of Dogtopia in La Vista, is offering canvas paw print artwork for customers and their dogs, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the north Omaha nonprofit.

Reisdorff, who has an annual holiday fundraiser at her dog day care, spa and boutique, said she felt inclined to help the Hope Center this holiday season after a recent visit there and seeing for herself how much of an impact it has on children. "It's a remarkable place," she said.

The fundraiser goes through Dec. 15 with a goal to raise at least $1,000. How it works:

You can bring your pooch to the La Vista store at 13239 Portal Drive, Suite 103, and choose a canvas size (6 inches by 6 inches for $20 and 10-by-10 for $40), background color and paw print color. Your dog's paws will be dipped in water-based, nontoxic acrylic paint and are stamped on the canvas. Reisdorff said wiggly dogs and dogs with hairy pads result in more abstract pieces. The finished artwork can be picked up in 24 hours.
