Nebraska assistant Corey Raymond made an impression on four-star recruit Mohammed Seisay.

    NU's Raymond impresses recruits

Mohammed Seisay wasn't particularly struck by Nebraska assistant Corey Raymond when the two first met on Eastern Arizona's campus in Thatcher, Ariz., in October.

Seisay, a four-star cornerback, saw a soft-spoken coach and didn't think that he was looking at the person who would be instrumental in his choosing to play football for the Huskers.

"When I first met him, he didn't really say much — he was really, really quiet," Seisay said. "I didn't know he was such a cool guy. He's got a good personality and he's got experience."

Raymond is finishing only his first season with Nebraska, but he seems to already be making his mark. Listen to those he's worked with or those who have been recruited by Raymond, and they point out his knowledge and likable personality.

Raymond played cornerback in college as a four-year starter for LSU. He graduated in 1992 and played in the NFL until 1998, spending time with the New York Giants and Detroit Lions. Raymond got into coaching in 2003 at the high school level, coaching at New Iberia (La.) High School and then Westgate (La.) High School.

He then accepted a position as a football intern at LSU before moving over to the conditioning staff for the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
