One of Midtown Crossing's first tenants is relocating to Omaha's Old Market.
Parliament Pub will move into the east side of the building that houses Roja Mexican restaurant downtown near 12th and Harney. The space was the former location of Cactus Cafe.
"I really think one of the main benefits of this move is that the Old Market is a real draw for people looking to go out to bars," said Tom Allisma in a Thursday press release. Allisma co-owns Parliament Pub with Dave Jensen.
The English-themed pub with a rock-and-roll edge is popular among young patrons in their 20s and 30s. It's expected to reopen at 1212 Harney St. in the spring. Parliament Pub will remain open at Midtown Crossing until the first part of 2012.
Molly Skold, spokesperson for Midtown Crossing, said a prospective tenant has already inquired about the space. She declined to elaborate. "A sports bar or restaurant of that nature would be ideal," she said. She added "we enjoyed having Parliament Pub in the mix here at Midtown. They were wonderful tenants. Where they are going to go fits with their business and we wish them well."
