Free radon test kits are available to Sarpy and Cass County residents at the Sarpy/Cass Department of Health & Wellness office, 701 Olson Drive, Suite 101, in Papillion. Kits are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Sierra Club to learn about green building

"Building Green Before 'Green Building': the Reniers Piano Building" will be the topic of the 7 p.m. Thursday Sierra Club meeting. Speakers will be Perry Poyner, Dan Dolezal and Chris Turner, all from Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture.

The former Reniers Piano building at 49th and Dodge Streets has been renovated into a sports bar-pizzeria and office suites. Although not LEED or "green" certified, the renovations are an example of how sustainable design solutions can be incorporated into all projects.

The meeting, which is free and open to the public, will be at First United Methodist Church, 7020 Cass St. Use the north door to the Education Wing.

Persons who attend the meeting will be the first who can sign up for the 10 a.m. Feb. 4 Walk-Through Building Tour of the former Reniers home. Other registrations will be accepted starting Friday at sierranebraska.org

'Secret Life' play looks at teenage bullying

The Plains States Anti-Defamation League is producing the educational play "The Secret Life of Girls," in partnership with Common Sense Media. The play will run at the Jewish Community Center Theater, 333 S. 132nd St.

The play dramatizes teenage bullying and is aimed at helping students realize that becoming an ally builds community while bullying can destroy it. Middle school students from across the Omaha area will attend one of six weekday school performances and participate in a talk-back session afterward.

Public performances also will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets, $8 for adults and $5 for students with valid student IDs, are available at the Jewish Community Center; or reserve seats through Linda Pollard at lpollard@adl.org, or at 402-334-6570.
