ISU hires Todd Sturdy as WR coach

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Former Washington State offensive coordinator Todd Sturdy is the new wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator at Iowa State.

Sturdy, a native of Tipton, Iowa, previously spent 12 seasons as the head coach at St. Ambrose University in Davenport. He was the offensive coordinator at Eastern Washington in 2007 before spending the past four seasons with the Cougars.

Sturdy's offense ranked ninth nationally in passing offense last season.

Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads said Tuesday that it's a real coup for the Cyclones to land Sturdy based on his success as a play-caller and his ability to recruit on the West Coast.
