Fundraiser for slain man's kids

A barberschool and the family of a shooting victim will team up Friday to raise money to help his four children.

Davarus Neelon, 26, a student at Joseph's College of Cosmetology and Barbering in Omaha, left behind two daughters and two sons when he was killed Jan. 13. The children range in age from 7 years to 6 months.

Joseph's will provide $5 haircuts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the college, 3724 Farnam St., said Kevin Jackson, director of the school.

At the same location, Neelon's family will sell fish or chicken dinners at lunchtime Friday, beginning about 11 a.m., said his mother, Roni Robinson. Proceeds will go to a fund for Neelon's children.

Also, donations may be made to the Neelon Kids Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank location.
