Union College hires ex-president

LINCOLN (AP) — The new president of Union College in Lincoln is an old president of the church-affiliated school.

The college board of trustees has named John Wagner as president, taking over for David Smith, who left last summer to become senior pastor of a congregation in Collegedale, Tenn.

Wagner, who has been interim president, was president of the school from 1986 to 1991. He was academic dean from 1980 to 1983.

Union College is affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
