The photo was made possible by skies clearing Sunday, the day after the snowstorm blew across the region.
Visible in this photo are rivers, which carved an inky path and, in denser white, the areas where the heaviest snows fell.
Portions of Colorado got about six feet and north-central Nebraska received 17 to 20 inches of snow.
The satellite image stops at about Columbus, Neb., just short of eastern Nebraska. Rivers that are visible include the North and South Platte, the Loup, its tributaries, and across the top, the Elkhorn. Visible reservoirs in Nebraska include McConaughy and Harlan.
The photo was taken by a NASA satellite dubbed Aqua, which was launched in 2002.
The snowfall broke the February record for snowfall in Denver, 15.9 inches and Boulder, 22.7 inches.
