A man crossing an Omaha street Thursday night suffered a life-threatening head injury when he was struck by a car, police said.

Ronald D. Beckwith, 50, of Omaha was hit at 6:50 p.m. near 38th and Leavenworth Streets, Omaha police said.

He was taken to Creighton University Medical Center.

A 1999 Ford Escort driven by Kimberly A. Acker, 25, of Bellevue was eastbound on Leavenworth when it struck Beckwith, who was crossing Leavenworth from south to north, police said.

Police said they did not know if Beckwith was within a crosswalk. — Emerson Clarridge
