Norfolk, Neb., motel company Supertel Hospitality Inc. has four new directors who represent an Argentine company that acquired a 34 percent interest in the firm. Company founder Paul J. Schulte of Norfolk is one of four directors who left the nine-member board.
Real Estate Strategies L.P., which is controlled by IRSA of Buenos Aires, is investing $30 million in Supertel, which has struggled financially since the recession.
The new directors are Daniel R. Elsztain, an IRSA board member; Jim Friend, president and CEO at Friend Development Group; Donald J. Landry, president and owner of Top Ten, a hospitality industry consulting company; and John M. Sabin, chief financial officer of Revolution LLC, an investment firm.
Also resigning from the Supertel board were Richard A. Frandeen, a retired executive from First National Bank of Omaha; Jeffrey M. Zwerdling, an attorney from Richmond, Va.; and Patrick J. Jung of Omaha, chief operating officer of Meridian Inc. — Steve Jordon
Franchise acquired
The Omaha franchise of Auto Driveaway has acquired the Houston franchise to grow its customer base and serve customers better, said Mel York, general manager of Auto Driveaway of Omaha. The company provides vehicle relocation services and has 40 offices across the country. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
Career fair
West Corp. and Goodwill Industries are hosting a Career Fair on Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Workforce Solutions Center at 2421 N. 24th St.
