LINCOLN (AP) — Nebraska's Child Support Payment Center is being recognized as one of the country's top performers when it comes to receiving child support payments electronically.
State Treasurer Don Stenberg said the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement lists Nebraska as No. 3 in the nation in electronic fund transfers.
In Nebraska, 70 percent of all child support payments from employers, direct payers, interstate payments, and unemployment insurance payments are done electronically.
States with higher rates are Pennsylvania at 79 percent and Indiana at 77 percent. The national average is 56 percent.
Stenberg said the payment center is at the forefront of adapting technology to improve the efficiency and security.
