TEMPE, Ariz. — Nebraska's offense jumped all over Cal State Northridge at the Kajikawa Classic on Saturday morning, but the Husker softball team couldn't keep up with Oregon State in its second game of the day.
NU had 15 hits and two home runs in a 10-2 run-rule rout of Northridge. But it lost 11-3 in six innings against Oregon State.
Sophomore Tatum Edwards hit a three-run home run to give No. 20 Nebraska (3-2) a 4-1 lead in the first inning of its win. Senior Ashley Guile hit her first home run of the season — a solo shot in the fourth — and finished 4 for 4, scoring four runs and driving in two.
Edwards, who started the game for NU, earned her second win of the season, holding Northridge (0-3) to two hits and one run over four innings.
The normally reliable Ashley Hagemann wasn't as fortunate against Oregon State (3-2). Nebraska's senior ace gave up eight hits and 10 runs — four earned — in five innings. The Huskers committed three infield errors in the first two innings, which helped the Beavers jump out to an 8-1 lead.
Nebraska's final game of the tournament will be against Georgia Tech at noon on Sunday.
