PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Creighton swept a doubleheader Saturday against Arkansas-Pine Bluff to open its softball season.
The Bluejays won the opener 18-0, setting a school record for margin of victory, then followed with a 14-2 win in the nightcap.
Freshman Allie Mathewson batted leadoff in both games, finishing 6 for 10 with five RBIs and five runs scored. Junior Amy Baker went 6 for 7 with seven RBIs.
Becca Changstrom and Brittany Telecky combined on the shutout in the opener, and Alexis Cantu got the win in the second game.
The Bluejays continue their series with UAPB on with a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. Sunday.
