Officer Marcos Lopez had a busy year.
Lopez arrested a sex offender, tracked down the source of counterfeit money, nabbed two arsonists and trained school security staff in 2011.
He was named the Bellevue Police Department's Officer of the Year on Saturday.
Lopez, 38, is a nine-year veteran and serves as school resource officer at Bryan High School.
Police Chief John Stacey said Lopez had tough competition for the honor.
"But his accomplishments were heads above anybody else in work and in the amount of crime he subdued," Stacey said.
