After a light snow for the drive home Monday, skies were to clear overnight, leading to some Valentine's Day sunshine.
There was enough melting snow Monday to create the possibility of morning fog, said Scott Dergan, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Valley, Neb. The melting gives the lower atmosphere "some extra juice," he said. Patches of dense fog could reduce visibility.
Temperatures were expected to rise above freezing Tuesday. Omaha should see a high of 34, Dergan said. A high temperature of 35 and more precipitation was forecast for Wednesday.
Forecasters were eyeing a weather system that was over the Pacific on Monday. An early forecast called for a mix of rain and snow in Omaha during the day on Wednesday, changing over to a light snow Wednesday night. Omaha might see a dusting to an inch or two of accumulation, Dergan said.
Forecasters will continue to track the system and update the forecast as necessary.
