BEATRICE, Neb. (AP) — Beatrice police officers and department employees have returned to their building after dangerous carbon monoxide was removed.
The department building was evacuated for about two hours Monday morning.
Chief Bruce Lang said damage to a chimney caused a backup of carbon monoxide. The Fire Department checked the air and found the gas level was too high for anyone to remain inside.
The workers returned after the gas was pumped out of the building.
During the evacuation, emergency communications were routed to the courthouse.
