ALLIANCE, Neb. — An arrest warrant has been issued for an Alliance man accused of stabbing his girlfriend and her stepfather to death.
Alliance Police Chief John Kiss confirmed Wednesday that an arrest warrant has been issued for Dominick L. Dubray, 25, of Alliance, on two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
Catalina “Cathy” Chavez and her stepfather, Michael Loutzenhiser, 42, of Scottsbluff, were killed Saturday. Dubray is identified in Box Butte County Court documents as having lived with Chavez, and the couple had a 4-year-old child.
It is believed that Dubray assaulted Chavez and Loutzenhiser early Saturday, Kiss said. Both victims suffered multiple stab wounds and died at the scene.
Dubray also suffered stab wounds and is currently hospitalized at a Denver hospital. Some media have reported that Dubray's wounds were self-inflicted, but Kiss said police have not interviewed Dubray to determine the source of his injuries.
A 16-year-old boy, identified as being Loutzenhiser's son and a half brother of Chavez, was in the home at the time of the stabbings. He was not involved.
Kiss said Box Butte County Attorney Kathleen Hutchinson has requested assistance from the Nebraska Attorney General's Office in prosecuting the case.
