World-Herald News Service

NORFOLK, Neb. — A Norfolk woman shot in the head was in critical condition Wednesday after surgery at an Omaha hospital, and police are seeking a man to question him about the case.

Edna Gutierrez, also known as Edna Little Elk, 33, of Norfolk was shot early Tuesday afternoon.

Police found Gutierrez found lying in the kitchen, said Norfolk Police Chief Bill Mizner. She was taken to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk and later flown to the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Police are seeking 34-year-old Carlos Alfredo Arevalo-Martinez for questioning.

Police have not recovered the gun used in the shooting and are still investigating a motive, Mizner said.
