Prep wins Academic Decathlon

It was a three-peat for Omaha Creighton Prep and a sweet farewell for Jeannie Brayman, who is retiring after 26 years as head coach of Prep's Academic Decathlon team.

Prep topped perennial rival Omaha Burke on Saturday to claim the large school division title and qualify for the National Academic Decathlon.

Prep has won the state title six times since 2004; Burke has won the other three times in those nine years.

The competition for large and small schools was held on the Creighton University campus in Omaha.

Nebraska City Lourdes repeated as small school champion Saturday — its fifth straight title.
Prep advances to the national competition to be held April 25–28 in Albuquerque, N.M. Lourdes will compete in a national online competition.
